Summerville, South Carolina has been recognized as a for over 40 years. As a Summerville resident, I am regrettably writing this letter to question this recognition. While I am sure that Summerville meets the 'letter of the law' when it comes to the program, I fully believe that the town no longer meets the 'spirit' of the program. Per the page on the Arbor Day Foundation website, 'The program provides communities with a four-step framework to maintain and grow their tree cover.' I am confident that Summerville meets and follows the 'four-step framework'.
