A Summerville police officer's evening duties of directing traffic on Old Trolley Road during the evening hours of Feb. 9 landed them in the hospital, as the law enforcement member was struck by an automobile at the intersection of Community Road. The officer was transported to the nearby medical facility with minor injuries and has since been released and is currently recovering. The incident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
